February 11, 2002 The strangest things happen on mailing lists. This piece was inspired by a recent discussion on a list which shall remain nameless. No need to go into it in depth, suffice it to say that the discussion degenerated to the point where people were actually giving requirements for stories that should be allowed on the list "No more than 30% of the story should concern the OC." I have an extremely sensitive bullshit detector, and a taste for the ridiculous, and this set them both off. I laughed so hard I fell off my chair, and as I was picking myself up, this piece sprang to mind -- full blown, as it were. So here it is -- Quick and easy slash recipes from the pages of Immortal Gourmand Monthly. Don't let the 'monthly' part fool you -- this is all of it. Give me a break -- it's Christmas. Do you know hard it is to write sex scenes with a house full of relatives, all of whom insist on leaning over your shoulder to see what you're doing? Do you have any idea how many of my more elderly relatives have weak hearts? Do you care? Well, the muses don't care either -- they insisted on having their own little celebration. I hope they don't expect me to clean up after them. December 2000 A new story. Wow. Been a long time, hasn't it?
